NEW YORK, USA — September 26, 2026 — Author Edward Avanessy introduces Kiki Coto, a book that combines a story about corruption and injustice with a spiritual exploration of karma, human purpose, and the relationship between the individual and the Universe.
The story follows Richard, known as Kiki Coto, as he confronts corruption, criminal organizations, and officials involved in the wrongful prosecution of an innocent young woman. The book presents an interconnected network of criminals and officials and follows Richard’s effort to uncover the forces behind the injustice.
Alongside the story’s crime and justice elements, Kiki Coto examines ideas about the purpose of human life. According to Avanessy’s account of the book, every person is born with a soul mission and must become conscious of that mission rather than allowing parental expectations, social pressures, wealth or status to determine the direction of life.
The book also presents karma as something that can change through spiritual awareness and a connection with the Universe. The author also describes a visit to a shaman retreat in Cusco, Peru, and an Ayahuasca ceremony as part of the process of completing the manuscript.
Avanessy says Kiki Coto draws loosely from the real-life story of Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Salazar, the Mexican American DEA agent whose 1985 kidnapping and killing became associated with the Guadalajara cartel case. The book uses that inspiration as a starting point for a fictional story that explores justice, corruption, and spiritual purpose.
The book’s spiritual framework also addresses repeated life experiences. It proposes that people who fail to recognize their soul mission repeat patterns until they become conscious of that mission, while those who complete their missions become free spirits and eventually helpful spirits.
Kiki Coto therefore moves between two subjects: the human struggle against injustice and the inner struggle to understand the purpose of life. Its central themes connect individual action, spiritual awareness, and the consequences of choices.
